Mirth Connect – GUI Lacks Secure SFTP Connection Feature January 2, 2015



Today at work, I discovered that Mirth is lacking one major security feature for SFTP: private key/public key authentication.

 

 

The Mirth SFTP connector can only connect via username/password. It will not allow for private/public key authentication, which is the most secure way of connecting via SFTP.

 

There is a workaround that I tested today: using the Java JSCH class, you can connect with SSH keys. It works well.We contacted Mirth directly today and was surprised they aren’t implementing it just yet…

The release will not be available until 3.2.0 and no earlier patch is planned. To allow for a public key authentication, however, you can use Javascript as a workaround using the Jsch library. This page is a good reference to write up javascript code that will allow for public key authentication.
